Strong Performances from Leinster Riders at Penultimate Round of Dublin Horse Show Qualifiers
Well done to all the Leinster riders who featured prominently in the penultimate round of Dublin Horse Show qualifiers last weekend.
148cm Division
In a competitive field of 45 combinations, the seven coveted tickets were decided after two rounds. Leinster’s Saoirse O’Neill emerged victorious, delivering a clear round aboard Carnhill Misty in an impressive time of 41.05 seconds.
138cm Division
This division saw 46 competitors aiming for qualification in a single-round decider. Just three combinations jumped clear, with Leinster’s Ben O’Connor taking second place on Solea in 79.70 seconds. Fellow Leinster rider Hannah Rose Roche followed closely in third with Hop, finishing in 80.01 seconds.
Rachel Sheehan and Cuffesgrange In It to Win It placed fifth with one fence down in 72.28, while Blathnaid Murphy and Orchids Serata were sixth, also with one down in 73.07.
In the 138cm six- and seven-year-old category, Ava O’Neill and Scs Aslan Girl (6yo) secured fourth with a score of 73.
128cm Division
This hotly contested class was decided over two rounds, resulting in eight double clears. Matthew Roche claimed top honors on Paddington Pal, speeding home in 37.28 seconds. Harvey Oscar Foley was a mere fraction behind, taking second on Desdemone Du Marquais in 37.29. Blathnaid Murphy returned to the podium in third, this time with Kiltormer Ruby, clocking 39.99.
Young Riders and Children on Horses – Sunday Highlights
1.35m/1.40m Class
A thrilling class ended with five triple clears. Kilkenny’s Marta Hughes Bravo took the win on HHS Figero with a blistering time of 35.05. Leinster’s James Derwin slotted into sixth with Killerish Can Ya, despite four faults in 36.56.
1.25m/1.30m Division
With a large field of 92 starters, the standard was exceptional, and 20 combinations advanced to the third round. Five delivered triple clears. Leinster rider Siobhan Doyle secured the win on the eight-year-old Dante Dv Z in 36.52. Matilde Hughes Bravo followed in second on Miss Belgium III in 37.76. Jamie Hargaden and Gernon RS jumped clear in 38.71 to take fourth.
1.10m–1.15m Class
Emily Moloney made the trip from Kilkenny worthwhile, winning with MFE Class Diamante (6yo), fastest of seven triple clears in 38.79. Ella Greene and Napardi (7yo) were third in 40.94, while Tom Alta Tagle and Quinlan’s Hero (6yo) placed fourth in 43.38. Isobel Sheehan and Teddy Stardust (6yo) completed the top six, finishing in 43.48.
Children on Horses
Willow Gavin and Lantino 31 rounded off the Leinster highlights, taking sixth place with eight faults in a time of 44.19.
