Emily Moloney Crowned European Champion in Historic Irish 1-2 at Junior Jumping Championships

Emily Moloney secured the FEI Junior Jumping Championship title in Riesenbeck this afternoon, delivering a flawless performance to lead Ireland to an incredible 1-2 finish on the individual podium.

Riding Temple Alice (ISH), the Kilkenny native jumped two superb clear rounds on the final day, finishing on her day-one score of 1.47 faults to claim the gold medal. Close behind, Wicklow’s Tabitha Kyle took silver with BP Goodfellas (ISH) after also producing double clear rounds, completing a remarkable day for Irish showjumping.

Both riders had done all they could, and the final standings came down to Switzerland’s Laura Andre, who needed clear rounds to stay ahead. However, two dropped poles from Andre saw her fall behind, confirming a brilliant Irish 1-2 on the podium.

Strong Irish Showing in Final

Earlier in the day, four Irish riders took to the arena after helping Ireland to team gold earlier in the week.

  • Paddy Reape, from Sligo, was first out with Mr Rocky Blue (ISH). Starting on 6.25 faults, he unfortunately added eight more after two poles fell, finishing on 14.25 and placing 25th overall.
  • Alice Wachman, from Tipperary, entered on 4.33 faults with Killarney, but a single pole down brought her to 8.33, putting her out of medal contention. However, she rebounded with a clear second round, finishing a respectable 11th.
  • Tabitha Kyle kept the pressure on the leaders with a faultless first round to stay on 3.27 faults, moving into fifth place. Another superb clear in round two saw her climb the rankings as other riders faltered, securing a well-earned silver medal.
  • Emily Moloney, starting the day in silver medal position, showed nerves of steel. Her first clear round confirmed at least a podium finish. When Switzerland’s Andre failed to maintain her lead, Moloney’s final clear secured the European title.

With Moloney, Kyle, and Wachman all delivering double clears on the final day, Ireland wrapped up what has been an extraordinary championship — highlighted by both individual and team gold, and a commanding presence among Europe’s elite junior riders.
