
08 Jul Double Header Weekend for Mervue Equine Leinster Summer Tour
The Mervue Equine Leinster Summer Tour delivered an action-packed weekend with back-to-back competitions in Adamstown, Co. Wexford on Saturday, followed by a high-energy showing at Flavours of Fingal on Sunday. Both venues played host to Ireland’s rising and established showjumping stars across 1.10m, 1.20m, and 1.35m divisions, with top talent and exciting finishes across the board.
Adamstown Results – Saturday
The main arena in Adamstown buzzed with anticipation as spectators were treated to competitive jumping and fast-paced finishes.
1.35m Class
Brendan Murphy stole the spotlight with Chevrolet Van Paemel Z, delivering a flawless double clear in 33.45 seconds to secure victory. Patrick Whelan and Eskola M followed closely, also double clear in 33.88. Andrew Hodgins claimed third aboard Sandra (34.77), with Jason Higgins and MBF Be Blue fourth (34.81). Hodgins returned for fifth on Shanaclough Luichew, despite four faults in a speedy 32.55. Sixth place went to Elliott Reeves and Gorsehill Ruby (4f / 34.03).
1.20m Class
Young rider Jack Kent made his mark with a commanding win on Origi Van De Bandam (26.60). Jason Higgins and MBF Maxwill finished just behind (27.01), with Brendan Murphy in third on Shirsheen Calensky (28.36). Laura Walshe (AA) impressed in fourth with Ballinaguilkey Heritage, ahead of Patrick Joyce and Doonaveeragh Jack, and Patrick Byrne on Leb Lucita.
1.10m Class
A competitive field of 71 riders saw amateur Hannah McNiven (AA) and Odetta take the win with a clear in 29.80. Jack Kent returned to the leaderboard in second with Origi Van De Bandam (30.16). Marie Hartley (AA) and Mikita Van het Heidenhof secured third (30.83), followed by Cian Byrne on Larina Cruise. Brendan Murphy and Shirsheen Bees Wing took fifth, with John Halley (AA) and Newtown City Lights rounding out the top six.
Flavours of Fingal – Sunday Showdown
Sunday’s competition moved north to the Flavours of Fingal Show, offering another high-stakes test for riders.
1.35m Class
Harry Marshall claimed the top podium spot with Morning Attraction, clocking the fastest of six double clears in 32.45. Shane O’Reilly showed excellent form, finishing second and third with Lancer Luck (33.79) and BWE Special Rose (34.26), respectively. Marshall also took fourth aboard Tango E.T (34.32). John McEntee and CST Andrew placed fifth, ahead of Stephen Wentzel and Glandore in sixth.
1.20m Class
Shane O’Reilly continued his winning streak, this time partnering BWE Vain Hero to victory in 31.46. James O’Reilly followed with Derena Something Special (32.20), with Eimhin Kellett and Kilcolgan Quality finishing third (32.31). Riverstown Flamenco Cruise took fourth, followed by Sunnibhe Stassin with RNH Factor One and Gerard Campbell on Livio.
1.10m Class
Young rider Layla Coyle rose to the occasion, claiming top honors with a clear in 32.78. Lucy Gaffney and World of Orestus followed closely (32.95), with James Hogg and Hawkesbury Lad in third. John Murray and MHS Dupont, Katelynn Dwyer with Moonlite Touch, and Grace McHugh on In Pursuit of Happiness completed the top six.
